We are stoked to conclude the Youth Band Sound Competition as a guest band, and check out all the amazing talent Hong Kong has to offer. Judges will include legendary Kolor's Sammy and a range of illustrious folks.
Venue is E-MAX (YEAH! Coheed played same stage) and it is free free free!
Not only from record recording (?) but also watching the demonstrations up close. What a couple of weeks! It might hence be in order to eat some good hot dawgs, catch a few rays and rock the f*ck out on Lamma Island!
We are back again, and it will be awesome! DP is on the bill, Dr. Eggs is on the bill, Himaya, Tonic, and tons of other friends. Come by in the afternoon for food and hangout, and stay with us as we rumble up on stage with (given previous years) an amazing crowd of HK's best!
Closing off the month of August in style we will try refraining from getting matching tattoos (someone, please just copy Kid's right arm onto mine) and are hitting up the Hong Kong Tattoo Convention to play in front of people way cooler than we are :)
PartyPosted by Freddy Gunn Fri, August 01, 2014 14:12:27 I should let Timmy write this post since he has listened more to Finch than I (read: he is obsessed, I merely listened to Say Hello To Sunshine until the CD player broke), but in lieu of his ramblings let me say this:
FINCH, ARCHITECTS, BORN OSIRIS! Holy COW!!! I am going to have an amazing couple of days. To make it all much much much more awesome: we are OPENING FOR FINCH on the 8th at the huge Kitec Rotunda 3!
For the THIRD year in a row, we are meeting up with our brothers The Fat Jokers for a night of instrument bashing. It is also the last chance to see the Jokers for a while - check out their statement: Poker Rock #3 – We Love Char Siu Show
Poker Rock made it to its 3rd year and there is something special about
the night. The Fat Jokers’ trombonist Bike Kit (a.k.a. Char Siu) is
leaving us to Australia and the drummer of The Glareless, Au Yeung, is
also leaving the band after this show. With Venerable Chung Chung
(Dickson the sexy sax-man of Tri-deuces) and Shotgun Politics, join us
in this once or never farewell party
People are telling me there will be Shotgun guest appearance of keys and synths, and someone replacing me on the drums for a song or two. Awesomeness!
LKF Beerfest has been making people happy for almost half a decade, and we've had the chance to bother crowds there during that full span. It is now time for 2014's edition, where we are helping to close off the event (9:15pm). Come by and drink beer and have fun with us!
You can visit the official web page for more information, but I think that the ever affelable Chris B summarizes the event best:
It's the time of the year again, when everyone stumbles out onto the streets of LKF, gets unforgivably drunk on 70 stalls worth of beer, and feasts their ears to fantastic live music. For the fourth year now The UndergroundHK has been working with LKF Beer and Music Fest to bring the best of Hong Kong bands onto the stage of Lan Kwai, filling your weekend up to the brim with groovy guitar tunes and summer beats. This year, the festival will feature over 20 bands and performers, including: Lancifer, here to perform all the way from USA; Kashy Keegan, who is perhaps best known for his song "This Is My Dream" - the opening theme of local channel HKTV; local Alt-rockers Mr. Rocket Head; Kevin Kaho Tsui, dubbed HK's City Living Authority by HK Magazine; and Planetrox China 2013 winners Shotgun Politics.
After one fractured hand (Kid), one fractured toe (Timmy, ongoing) and one foot broken in three pieces (Freddy) we declare that the Shotgun curse is over and we have a slew of good gigs coming up (hint, one is with Finch... FINCH!).
To celebrate that great times are a-going again, we are hitting the Wanch with friends. Come and check it out!
You can find all the details at the facebook event page. Free. Three awesome bands, and your ruffians truly, and beer and beer and beer :)
It has been ages since we had a gig (with a
poster, I should add - there was a Wanch gig or two in Q1 :)), and it
will be awesome so go on stage with so many friends and fellow bandmates
for Friday Night Rocks!
Come and check it out if you have time! Link here for Facebook event, with the description attached below...
years now, The Underground has been quietly stirring up a storm in Hong
Kong’s best live music venues. Now, to commemorate our 10 year
anniversary, we’re emerging from our home underground to bring to you
our very first outdoor music extravaganza. In collaboration with Hong
Kong Fan Zone, Friday Night Rocks (aka The Underground Festival), will
feature many of our very favourite Hong Kong bands. Acts on the day will
include veteran Hong Kong performers. such as: Supper Moment, ToNick,
Shotgun Politics, Dr. Eggs, Hey Joe Trio, Noughts & Exes, and Bamboo
Star, bringing you a wide variety of sounds and surprises. Musical
styles will range from indie folk to pop rock, so there'll be something
to suit everybody. These well-travelled musicians have been gracing
local and overseas stages for years, leaving their marks at Yamaha’s
Asiabeat Competition and Quebec’s Planetrox China, and dosing audiences
from Europe, USA and Asia with their energy on tour. We also have with
us our special friends from Korea – Galaxy Express, the award winning
rockers known for their infectious blend of tightly wound garage rock,
punk, psychedelic sounds and explosive performances.
For a Friday
night that rocks with good music and good fun, be sure to mark your
calendars for the 28th March at the New Central Harbourfront, it's going
to be one of the best nights of original music Hong Kong has seen for
I have been to Hang Out so many times, watching amazing bands like The Merriweather Deer, Yuck!, Hungry Ghosts and so on and so on. Now we not only get to play there, but with KOLOR, ToNick and Deep Inside. RAD!

EDIT: Timmy here, we've updated our video blog which includes an episode of us preparing to play at this show. Check it out here:
Dang, I can't believe that we are having the chance to lock off the year with one more outdoor festival! I'll just quote from the Timmster about this rad event:
"As I sit here typing this, in a gloomy Macau hotel room - I find myself
cocooned up in a hoodie & scarf. I remember a time not so long ago
that I used to show a bit more toughness! What's going on here?
Anyway kids. Here's a look at our next and final show of 2013.
It's been a pretty wacky year for us. We've played some incredibly memorable shows and that's thanks to all of you.
We've played three festival stages and we will close the year with one more.
The event we are playing at is a collaboration between Very HK, an
organisation that strives to promote all things creative in HK and The
Wanch, an organisation that strives to be badass twenty four seven.
Harbour Hallelujah, taking place at Very HK's 'Very Big Picnic' is quite simply, going to be a good time.
It's located at the New Central Harbour Front which is that stretch of
grass between Central & Admiralty I believe and get this:

Hey there, I am writing this well after the event but thought to include the poster from our Canada Crusade Tour (with the Envol et Macadam festival concert our price for winning the PlanetRox China-leg).
